Box hole borers

Sandvik boxhole borers are designed to bore circular passages blind and full-face into inaccessible zones. With a diameter of 1600 mm, they are capable of boring shafts up to 50 meters long at inclinations of up to 70 degrees through very hard rock formations. Exceptionally compact and easy to set up, they are an excellent solution for boring ore passes, ventilation holes, manways etc; and can also be vital for rescue operations.

  • Boxhole borer

Sandvik MD-series boxhole borers have a working principle similar to that of a tunnel boring machine (TBM) combined with the ruggedness and tenacity of a raise-boring head. Just 3.2 meters long and launched from a tube that also serves as a transport cradle, they are designed to bore upwards and can also bore horizontally, subject to modification of the conveying system. Sandvik boxhole borers are controlled remotely from a safe and convenient location.
